Unearthing Missouri's steamboat history with treasure hunter David Hawley 06.27.19.

June 27, 2019

David Hawley is a treasure hunter and steamboat historian who came to prominence when, in 1988, he unearthed the Steamboat Arabia, which sank in the Missouri River in 1856...uncovering one of the largest collections of pre Civil Wat artifacts ever.
The Steamboat Arabia Museum opened a few years later, and has become one of the biggest tourist attractions KC has come to offer.
And now he's raising funds to dig up his latest find, the Malta, which sank in the river over 200 years ago.
