Dear Johnny,
My name is Danelle and we have struggled this year. In
January, my husband’s mom passed away and she was
raising 3 of her grandchildren (an 11, 8, and 4 year old). At
the time, the state called my husband and I and asked if we
would foster the children (their mom, my husband’s sister,
didn’t have a stable living environment and she was battling
drug issues). Of course we agreed, but knew it would be a
huge change since we have a 15 year old, 6 year old, and 3
year old ourselves. There was just no way I could let the kids
be sent to a random foster home, or be split up with people
they don’t know. So now, we have a total of 6 kids in the
house. It has been hectic to say the least with schedules,
school events, sick days, doctor’s visits, etc. My husband
and I both work, but I lost my job about a month ago due to
missing work for the kids. I just started my new job on
Monday the 9th and will be working to get us caught up.
To say that we are stressed would be an understatement. I
wanted to give these kids the Christmas they deserve, but
now we’re in this horrible position. I’ve never done anything
like this in the past, never needed to. We appreciate you
taking time to read this.
