Hope For The Holidays

Dear Johnny,
For almost 10 years I’ve been at my job and I love it.
But at the end of this past summer, all the employees were
informed that there were going to be some cutbacks. They
have ended up cutting positions, hours, and overtime. I’m
lucky so far that I’m still working, but since my hours and
overtime have been cut it’s made it hard to keep up on all my
bills. I’m a single dad to a 5 year old boy and Christmas is
almost here and I don’t know how I’m going to do it. My tags
on my car expired last month and I have no clue how to
come up with an extra $300 to pay for it. I can’t afford not to
go to work, so I drive there anyway. My son’s daycare lady
has been a trooper with this. She knows my situation and
lets me pay her late or pay her what I can afford to.
Going to the grocery store is not always easy. I have to get
off brand items and my son doesn’t always understand that.
At his school he made a list of what he wants for Christmas.
He gave it to me the other night and he wants Santa to have
it. He wants Legos, trucks, and Lucky Charms cereal. He
doesn’t deserve this situation. He just wants to be a kid.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
I appreciate it.
