As what would have been late Avenged Sevenfold drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan’s 38th birthday approaches, the band is continuing to keep his legacy going strong.

The incredibly talented and always experimental Jimmy pulled influences from unexpected places. In an early career punk metal band with A7X guitarist Synyster Gates, Pinkly Smooth, the band was taking inspiration from Oingo Boingo and The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Danny Elfman.

Appearing in rare form, Pinkly Smooth let Jimmy show off his vocal and piano talents. The band released an album titled Unfortunate Snort before going inactive to focus on Avenged Sevenfold. Now, Gates is revisiting that album with hopes to remaster it and make it more readily available to the public.

Rough quality recordings are available on YouTube, but Gates is out to find the original files. “I hear that there’s actually an ugly rumor that some have surfaced, and if I can find those then I’m going to remaster it and give it to you guys,” he explained in a livestream with guitarist Rick Beato.
